Cody James is an entertainment design and production specialist with 14 years of experience visualizing, crafting, and implementing stories of numerous different media.

Cody has provided designs for theatrical productions, dance recitals, small scale films, corporate events, and various other stage and video productions. Most often, they work with lighting and scenic design, but also has significant experience in sound design, audio engineering, and props making, as well as sufficient knowledge of most other facets of entertainment production. In addition to their design work, Cody has directed a number of theatrical productions and is adept at collaborating with actors, designers, and all other production personnel to execute a cohesive narrative vision.

Cody’s experience spans 14 years, starting with their involvement in the drama department at their high school in Boonsboro, Maryland. They spent their last three years of high school learning all they could about all aspects of theatrical production, culminating in BHS Drama’s 2011 production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. This was Cody’s first major design work, as they had complete creative control over the show’s lighting and effects. In the following years, Cody continued to work on theatrical productions and dance recitals at various local venues, solidifying their knowledge of lighting and set design. In 2016, they earned a BA in History at Shepherd University, focusing on cultural history in an effort to expand their knowledge base and better ground their designs. Since then, they have begun designing for a more varied consumer base, using their experience to provide designs of varying styles, whether they be historically accurate, abstract, presentational, or otherwise. Cody has recently finished their MA in Drama and Theatre Studies through the National University of Ireland, Galway, focusing on Expressionism in theatre and playwrighting.
